Suggested Routes

A relaxing cruise from our base in Bettisfield will take you up to the source of the canal at Llangollen. In June 2009 Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal was inscribed as the UK's 28th World Heritage site.

Marvel at the three tunnels and two magnificent aqueducts, built over 200 years ago, as you travel through fields, villages and towns giving the feeling of having been transported back in time.

There is a constant flow on this canal due to the 14 million gallons of water flowing down from the River Dee. If you walk from Llangollen to Horseshoe Falls you will discover the source of the canal. It is also possible to combine this cruise and experience the recently restored Montgomery canal in the same week. This seven mile stretch is reached through the locks at Frankton and is well worth a visit for its peace and tranquillity.

Another week cruise is in the opposite direction from our base to the historic city of Chester. This is more energetic as there are far more locks to navigate, but the scenery is beautiful and is well worth the extra effort. Moorings are available in Chester leaving only a short walk to the city centre.
